Akrotiri
The first habitation at Αkrotiri dates from the Late Neolithic time. The island’s Minoan Bronze Age settlement and one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean, was buried in volcanic ash after the volcanic eruption of 1600 BC. Today, at the archaeological excavation site, the visitor can explore the perimeter of the settlement and admire the preserves remains of delicate frescoes, artworks, and everyday life remains.
